We the people of the United States, In order to form a more perfect union, Establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, Provide for the common defense, Promote the general welfare and Secure the blessings of liberty To ourselves and our Posterity Do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The introduction to the Constitution. It lists the purpose and goals of the Constitution.

Form a More Perfect Union  To unite the 13 separate states into one country

Establish Justice  To create one set of supreme rules that ALL the states could agree on

Insure Domestic Tranquility  To keep peace among the people of the new nation

Provide for the Common Defense  To provide $$$ for a strong national defense to protect the whole country (all 13 states)

Promote the General Welfare  To make sure the government is taking care of the well-being of it’s citizens

9. Goal #6
Secure the Blessings of Liberty  To protect the freedom (liberty) that they fought to get (Revolutionary War)
