NORTH AMERICA Daria Domantas Presented by… Aaron Keira Corey

Our Project - North America North America is the 3rd largest continent in the World. North America has 23 countries including U.S.A, Mexico, Canada, Greenland and lots more. One of the most famous statues is in North America (New York) it is called the Statue of Liberty .

This is a map of North America

Lakes in North America *North America is famous for its great lakes, there are five in total, Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontoria. * Together they form the largest connected area of fresh water on Earth. *Approximately 34,000,000 people live in the great lakes base.

Oceans North America is surrounded by three oceans, North Atlantic, North Pacific and the Arctic ocean. Hawaii, which is a U.S state, is a volcanic Island located in the North Pacific, it is the home of Waikiki beach, popular with surfers and also Pearl Harbour linked to World War II. The Atlantic ocean is the 2nd largest Ocean in the world.

Waterfalls Niagara falls is the collective name for three waterfalls, between Canada and the United States. Niagara falls is 51 metres high. THAT’S AMAZING!!!! Did you know that the first tightrope walker to cross the Niagara falls did so in 1859?

The longest rivers in North America Missouri River, (3,767km) Mississippi, (3,734km) Yukon River, (3,167km) Rio Grande, (3,051km) Nelson River(2,575km) Fact – on January 15th 2009, U.S airways flight 1549 crash landed in the River Hudson, narrowly missing the city.

Animals, Creatures and plants Over 170 types of fish live in the Great Lakes along with 3,500 species of plants and animals. There’s many different fish living in North America such as catfish, dace, darters and killifish. Why are fish so smart?

Beaches It’s not surprising that USA’s largest state (Alaska) has the longest shoreline, extending for 33,904 miles. Florida has the second longest shoreline and is the closest state to the equator giving the warmest average year-round temperature at 71 degrees Fahrenheit. Many think the best Beach is Sesutu Beach.

Quiz What is the famous statue called? How many countries are there in North America? Name a fish that lives in North America? How high is the Niagara falls?
