Sharing its entire southern border with the United States, Canada is just north of the United States.
Connecting the northern Atlantic to Canada, the Hudson Bay extends far into the central part of the country.
One of Canada’s most important rivers is the St. Lawrence which stretches from Lake Ontario in the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean to the east.
The St. Lawrence was historically important because it allowed explorers to travel deep in to North America by water.
Today the St. Lawrence is important as a source of fresh water as well as providing a route for trade.
6.Four of the five Great Lakes (all except Lake Michigan) form part of the border with the United States.
7. Covering a large part of eastern and central Canada, the Canadian Shield is an area with ancient , rocky, thin soil, rolling hills, and an abundance of lakes, rivers and mineral resources.
8. In the west, the Rocky Mountains are an extension of the mountain chain that runs 3,000 miles from New Mexico in the USA to British Columbia in Canada.
