WHAT ARE AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES? The body’s immune system is made to protect from invading diseases and infections, however when a person has been diagnosed with this form of disorder, the body’s immune system will attack the healthy cells. Autoimmune disorders or diseases can affect any person, but those who are at a greater risk are those of Hispanic, Native, and African American. Women are higher in autoimmune diseases then men. Outside of taking the prescribed medication to treat the illness there are vitamins that may reduce the affects to help live well productive lives. The three autoimmune diseases that will be focus on are Type II Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis and Lupus.

VITAMINS, HERBS, & SUPPLEMENTS FOR DIABETES II Since type 2 diabetes may affect the whole body taking vitamins, herbs and supplements can reduce the affects. Vitamins such as multivitamin & mineral supplements; This will reduce the risk of infections used daily. Vitamin E (improves glucose tolerance) Vitamin B Complex (improves systems of diabetic neuropathy, blood sugar levels and reduces nerve damage) Coenzyme Q 10 (C Q10) (protect against induced depletion) Some herbs that are also use to treat type II diabetes are includes Aloe Vera, Asian ginseng and bitter melon. These herbs manage blood sugar and give energy. Type II diabetes work well when treated with vitamins, herbs and supplements along side the prescription along side physical activities and social support.

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS: VITAMINS, HERBS, & SUPPLEMENTS There are five main forms of multiple sclerosis medication, each having harsh side effects. People who use natural supplements can reduce or delay disability if used regularly.
