Telling Time 4 steps 1.Es la/ Son las 2.Hour 3.Minutes 4.Time of day

1. Es la/ Son las Es la – If the time is between 12:31 and 1:30 Son las – If it is any other time

2. Hour If it is on the hour – Use the number for the current hour – Example: 3:00 -> Tres If it is before the half hour – Use the number for the current hour – Example: 7:15 -> Siete If it is after the half hour – Round up and use the number for the next hour – Example: 4:45 -> Cinco

3. Minutes If it is on the hour – Add “en punto” If it is before the half hour – Add “y + number of minutes” If it is after the half hour – Add “menos + the number of minutes until the next hour starts”

4. Time of day Add one of the following phrases depending on the time of day: – De la mañana: In the morning – De la tarde: In the afternoon – De la noche: In the evening/ at night
