Executive Order 1048 – Early Start Early Start Program (ESP): In June 2010, Executive Order (EO) 1048 established the Early Start Program (ESP). For the Fall 2012, incoming freshmen who have not demonstrated proficiency in English and/or Mathematics will be required to begin remediation prior to the term for which they have been admitted, e.g., summer prior to fall. Cal Poly Pomona will communicate with students beginning January 2012 regarding their Exemption status and/or need for Early Start; ELM and/or EPT must be taken no later than March 2012; Students must notify Cal Poly Pomona of how they will complete their required ESP participation; and Students can complete their ESP at Cal Poly Pomona, other CSU’s or CCC’s
