Friction Gravity Newton’s Laws Momentum Forces

Friction $100 This is the direction in which friction affects an object.

What is the opposite direction?

Friction $200 These are the three types of friction.

What are sliding friction, rolling friction and fluid friction?

Friction $300 This is a type of fluid friction that is exerted on objects falling through the air.

What is air resistance?

Friction $400 These are the two factors that affect the magnitude of friction.

What are the types of surfaces and how hard they push together?

Friction $500 Make up a scenario in which the amount of friction on an object is reduced.

Examples include adding oil (ie. To a an engine), adding wheels (ie. Wheels on your shoes), polishing a surface, reducing the amount of contact between two objects.

Gravity $100 You would weigh less in this location than in Galveston due to the earth’s gravitation pull. HINT: multiple answers are acceptable

Multiple Questions acceptable

Gravity $200 This occurs when the only force acting on an object is gravity.

What is free fall?

Gravity $300 The larger the object, the ______ its gravitational pull. HINT: The earth vs. people

What is larger?

Gravity $400 This law states that the force of gravity acts between all objects in the universe.

What is the law of Universal Gravitation?

Gravity $500 This is the force of gravity on a person or object at the surface of a planet.

What is weight?

Newton’s Laws $100 This is the formula for force, as stated in Newton’s Second Law.

What is Force = Mass x Acceleration?

Newton’s Laws $200 This law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

What is Newton’s Third Law?

Newton’s Laws $300 This is another name for Newton’s First Law, which states that an object at rest remains at rest and an object in motion remains in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

What is the law of inertia?

Newton’s Laws $400 If two people on skateboards push against each other, which person will accelerate faster?

Who is the person with less mass?

Newton’s Laws $500 These are the two ways that acceleration can be increased.

What are increasing the force or decreasing the mass of the object?

Momentum $100 The larger the mass the _________ the momentum.

What is greater?

Momentum $200 In the following example, this object has more momentum: a 90 lb. person moving at 1 m/s or a 90 lb. dog moving at 2 m/s.

What is the 90 lb. dog?

Momentum $300 This is the formula for momentum.

What is momentum = mass x velocity (p = mv)?

Momentum $400 If there is no friction, this is the change in the total momentum of the system when two object collide.

What is no change?

Momentum $500 This is the momentum of a 5 kg bowling ball moving at 10 m/s. (HINT: Remember the formula for momentum)

What is 50 kg*m/s? Solution: Momentum = mass x velocity Mass = 5 kg Velocity= 10 m/s Momentum = 5 kg x 10 m/s Momentum = 50 kg*m/s

Forces $100 This is a push or a pull.

What is a force?

Forces $200 These are forces that are opposite in direction and equal in size.

What are balanced forces?

Forces $300 This is the force that a surface exerts on another when rubbing against each other.

What is friction?

Forces $400 This is how you would find the net force acting on the car below.

What is add the forces together?

Forces $500 This is the direction that the object below will move.

What is to the west?
