Presentation transcript:

Commissioning needs: K.Long

Routine: LN2 bottle: –Needs to be sited in MICE Hall or outside vault so that routine checks of contents can be made

Magnet commissioning: Q7 – Q9: soak tested at reduced flow –OK Q1 – Q3: under test today –So far OK Q4 – Q6: under test today –So far OK D2 water: –change to permanent supply this week –Re-soak-test String test: –Presently scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday (26May08)

Shifts in machine run-up: Assumption: –Having demonstrated parasitic running, we should use Machine Physics shifts to: Re-define (increase) beam-loss limit; Perform studies that require access –Note: ‘routine optics’ measurements should be done during the user run Goals: –Measure particle rates with Q1 – Q3 and try to increase flux by increasing target dip Frame will be lowered by 5 mm during shutdown –Ensure BM1&2 and BC2 are working Implies testing with source during shutdown –Radiation survey in MICE Hall: Conditions agreed in discussion with P.Wright

Shifts in machine run-up: Shift 1: –Establish new operating point: Particle rate vs beam loss with magnets on BM&BC tests Proton absorber Shift 2: –Radiation surveys: Magnets OFF, ISIS 50 pps, target dipping Magnets ON, ISIS 50 pps, target dipping Mis-steered ISIS beam, Q1-3, D1, decay solenoid on, D2 and Q4-6 off, the goal to measure shine on the north shielding wall –Array of dosimeters in preparation for mounting on north wall
