3 What we do DEPA VISION To develop and communicate high quality and timely environmental assessment advice and policies relating to Defence capability, infrastructure and training activities. DEPA OBJECTIVES To provide a policy framework for the environmental assessment of Defence activities. Actively manages the building of relationships with key stakeholders. To meet environmental legislative and policy requirements. To act as Defence’s gateway and technical authority for external environmental approvals such as referrals under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act. To establish, implement and learn from an effective environmental compliance and auditing framework. To develop project and strategic level environmental impact assessment processes. To contribute to the integrity and sustainability of the Defence estate by providing high level technical advice on environmental management.
