Exposition Introduces the SETTING, the CHARACTERS, and the SITUATION. Setting- Tells us WHEN and WHERE the story takes place. Characters- WHO are the main characters? Situation- What is HAPPENING?

Setting Once upon a time… Cinderella’s House The Castle

Cinderella’s Mother died. Cinderella’s father remarried Cinderella’s Mother died. Cinderella’s father remarried. Cinderella had an evil step-mother and two mean step-sisters.

Rising Action The actions leading up to the Climax/Turning point.

The evil step-mother and step-sisters make Cinderella a servant.

Climax/Turning Point Climax- the high point of the story. Turning point- Conflict will cause the characters to act.

An invitation to the party arrives. Cinderella is not allowed to go.

Falling Action Events AFTER the Climax that lead to the Resolution.

A fairy godmother helps Cinderella to the party A fairy godmother helps Cinderella to the party. Cinderella dances with the prince. Cinderella has to be home before midnight, so she runs away. Cinderella loses her shoe.

Resolution/ Dénouement All of the loose ends are tied up, and the conflict is RESOLVED.

The prince finally fits the glass shoe on Cinderella The prince finally fits the glass shoe on Cinderella. Cinderella and the prince get married. They live happily ever after.
