What is Graduation Transitions 12? Mandatory 4 credit course for graduation A: Healthy Living Plan B: Community Connections C: Career and Life D: Exit Interview

When, Where and How? Not a scheduled class Assignments due at different times of the year Pack teachers collect/check some parts of GT Information on GT website: http://public.sd43.bc.ca/secondary/Pinetree/GT/default.aspx Grade 12 assemblies – Don’t miss any! Pack – Don’t skip any!

Part A: Personal Health (yellow sheets)

DPA (Daily Physical Activity) Requirement Record, tabulate and collect signatures for the DPA log in your student agenda. Pack teacher checks for DPA completion in student agendas Always bring agenda to PACK

What qualifies for DPA (who signs?) Any physical activity requiring a moderate to vigorous activity level (need signature of supervisor) All community programs (need receipts) All individual sport/activities listed on the DPA tracker in www.learnnowbc.ca Parents and community members supervising the activity may sign the DPA log need more stuff

150 mins/week of Physical Activity Exemptions from DPA (for the season/semester): PE 11 & 12, Dance, or Musical Theatre All School sports teams Students must attend regularly and participate fully to receive credit for the DPA When coaches/teachers submit a team roster or class list, students will receive credit for DPA.

Part A: Healthy Living Plan Decision Making Process & Stress Management Assignment: - ICBC Speaker & related assignment (date TBA) Nutrition Assignment: - A nutrition analysis assignment is posted on the Graduation Transition website: http://public.sd43.bc.ca/secondary/Pinetree/GT/default.aspx

Part B: 30 Hrs work Exemptions: Successful completion with verification: Work Experience 12 Global Perspectives Peer Tutoring Students must still provide evidence of work and complete the Employability Skills Evaluation sheet

Part C: Career and Life (green sheets)

Part C: Resume Resume must be updated Cannot be Planning 10 resume Must include references References will be requested Separate reference sheet with 3 references (name, contact #, and relationship to you)

Part C: Cover Letter Must contain: Return address Salutation (Dear. . . ) Date Inside address Centered body of text Complimentary close (Sincerely yours, ) Signature of sender Typed name of sender

Part C: Financial Plan (for the year after grad) Prepare a budget for next year. Use instructions on the back page If your parents pay for everything, you must still show that you have the skill to set up a budget Use the website: www.educationplanner.bc.ca - accurate tuition fee information - up to date entrance requirements for each faculty

Part D: Exit Interview Type or write your answers to the questions on the green Transition Plan handout and bring your Resume, Cover letter and Budget to the interview. Make an appointment with Ms Louie for the interview Discuss your plans for the year following your graduation Ask questions regarding your plans

Part C: No Exemptions Students CANNOT submit resumes from Planning 10. (update!) The Planning 10 career project is NOT accepted for the financial plan Global Perspectives binders must be presented for GT credit Use the website: www.educationplanner.bc.ca for the most accurate tuition fee information.

Things to keep in mind: Grad Transitions MUST be completed to be eligible for the Passport to Education DPA forms will be checked monthly by Pack teachers and reported in the Grad Transition mark. (Starting Sept 23 onwards) Grad Dinner and Dance ticket sales and seating arrangements will be jeopardized if GT is incomplete

Next Pack: Sept 30, 2009 Bring your DPA (agenda) for the Pack teacher to check If you are missing documents, print out extra ones from the Grad Transition website Hand in completed assignments to your Pack teacher or Ms Louie in the counselling office
