Your task is to… Research Organize Write Film Produce A newscast of a weather event or natural disaster.

The Process 1.First you'll be assigned to a team of 4 students. Groups will be assigned in the beginning of the project. 2.As a group, choose a weather or natural disaster that you will be focusing on during this project. This is the weather event that you will learning about when doing your newscast.weather or natural disaster 3.On your own, fill out the K and W sections of the KWL chart of all the information that you know about the natural disaster you and your group have chosen. After you have done this. Come together and discuss all the things that you have put in these sections.KWL chart 4.After you have filled out your K and W sections go back to the Weather or disaster slide and take notes on your disaster. In bullet or outline form individually. Once you have finished this come together to discuss your notes. Newscaster Rescue Worker Meteorologist Storm chaser 7.Once you have chosen your job, click on your job. Use the Cornell note taking method to take notes on the websites listed under your job. After you have taken notes, come together as a group and discuss your notes you have taken. This information will help you complete your newscast.Cornell note taking method 8.After you have discussed your notes as a group, bring back the KWL chart that you completed in step 4 and fill out the L section.

Take a look at some examples at some real life broadcasts in your job area. Take note of some of the words and phrases they use during the newscast. This will help you with the language of your newscast. Newscaster- Anchor Newscaster Rescue worker- Safety Specialist Rescue worker Meteorologist- Weather Reporter Meteorologist Storm Chaser- Field Reporter Storm Chaser 10.Once you have watched the examples, start to write the script for the newscast. Make sure you have a part for everyone in your group. Each group member should talk about his or her specialty area during the newscast.
