Presentation transcript:

Some conclusions of the ADAPT project Development of a practical methodology requires intensive interaction with partners Policy relevancy of both the methodology as well as the results of the case-study requires cooperation with the policy makers Methodological difficulties –Practical influence of CC –Developing ‘value’ score for social and ecological effects –Integration of adaptive capacity and resilience of systems –Socio-economic scenario building –Integration of different effects in a decision support tool

Some conclusions of the ADAPT project Data availability –Some crucial data is not available at detail level –Not at the appropriate scale –Restricted due to protection of privacy –Some data need to be gathered by interviews hampers analysis AND validation of methods

Some conclusions of the ADAPT project Problems –Many qualitative relationships (literature / expert judgment) which need to be translated in a quantitative terms Information about adaptive capacity Relationship flood characteristics - vulnerability Importance of different social flood effects –Double counting of effects? How to cope with this –Documenting uncertainty ranges –Carrying out a (Monte Carlo based) sensitivity analysis –Identify critical parameters
