What is this class about? In the fall semester of accounting we will be learning about the financial record keeping of sole proprietorship (one owner) businesses. If you are scared about the math/numbers aspect, do not be. The best way to sum it up: Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages; you just have to know the right place to put the numbers.

Classroom Rules RESPECT yourself. RESPECT each other. Take RESPONSIBILITY for your actions.

Classroom Expectations When you come in the room: Sit in your assigned seat. If any paper homework is due, place it in the 6th hour tray next to the printers. Complete any bellwork if any is assigned. This will usually be written on the board. Tardy Policy: You need to be inside the classroom door when the bell rings. After three, you will receive a tardy referral for a detention with your division.

Classroom Expectations MP3/CD Players: If you have your own device, it is allowed during Individual Work Time as long as one ear is left open so you can hear me. Not Allowed during Whole Class Instruction Time. Food: Allowed during IWT as long as you clean up your trash and don’t mess up the keyboards and/or tables. Not Allowed during WCIT. Drinks: Must be on the floor when at computers. Tables: OK but don’t spill and don’t disrupt anyone else’s space.

Classroom Expectations Bathroom/Hall Pass: NO I.D.=NO PASS Do not come up to me putting on your badge, if you don’t have it on when you walk in the room, don’t bother!!! You will not go anywhere during WCIT unless you are called out by the office. Don’t bother asking. (Obvious Emergencies may be excluded).

Classroom Expectations Internet Usage: Homework= yes MP3/YouTube =no Just because = no NO- unless you are ing an assignment to me. Consequence: One warning then automatic 30 minute detention with me after school.

Classroom Expectations At the end of class: Log-off. DO NOT SHUTDOWN. Put things back the way you found them. Put your folder away in your hanging file folder (if applicable). Have a seat until the bell rings. When you leave, push your chair in.

Assignments Most assignments will be done online. Point values are undetermined at this point. These may be done here at school or at home with an internet connection. No late work will be accepted. The program has a final due date and the assignment will not be accessible after that date. UNLESS THERE ARE EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES, DO NOT ASK FOR AN EXTENSION. If a due date is going to change for any reason, I will let you know this. Practice problems will give you feedback, homework problems will be automatically graded and I have access to your scores once the due date has approached. You should not have to print anything out unless otherwise directed to do so.

Tests Tests are online just like your homework. There are usually several parts to a test, at least one part will be required, the rest are “mandatory extra credit”. Tests are usually worth points of your grade.

Grades Grades are determined by a percentage of total point value. Although tests are worth more points, they do not have any more % weight to them. Grading Scale: A=100-90% B=89-80% C=79-70% D=69-60% F=59% or below Extra Credit? Maybe, maybe not.

Costs Although our assignments are online, the district does still have to pay for you to have access. You will be asked to pay $29.50 for the additional costs. These fees are payable to Debbie Sparks in A Office by the end of October. If you are unable to pay due to true financial difficulties, speak to me after class or with Ms. Sparks in A office. We DO NOT want you to drop this class just because of costs.
