1.5. Main Products for Energy from Waste Direct Melting System (DMS) Proven “WASTE” Gasification Technology The world’s highest number of facilities (43 orders) The world’s largest facility capacity (230,000 t/annual) The world’s longest-term operation (36 years) Waste Tire Pyrolysis Technology (2004- ) Incineration via Steinmüller Babcock Environment GmbH

Contents Company Overview 2. Key Advantages for Deployment in the UK Group Structure Company Profile Business Field 2. Key Advantages for Deployment in the UK Flexibility Environmental Friendly Sustainability Reliability 3. Summary

3. Key Advantages for Deployment in Europe (1) Flexibility - Waste flexibility - Feasible with Co-gasification (2) Environmental Friendly - Lower Emissions - Contribution to “Circular Society” (3) Sustainability - CfD eligible - High Power Generation - Material and Energy Recovery from Waste (4) Reliability - Technology is well-proven - Company - Technology supplier or Turn-key supply?

2.1. Flexibility Waste Flexibility CfD Eligible Mainly MSW or RDF with other waste This system has high waste flexibility and requires no pre-treatment. No pre-treatment High temperature gasification (>1,800 C) Double damper system (max. 800 mm) CfD Eligible Continuous syngas measuring Stable combustion Approx. 5.9 MJ/m3N based on 9.1 MJ/kg-waste refer to N.Tanigaki et. al. Waste Management Syngas 400- 500 ℃ Sewage sludge Bottom ash Landfill Waste Clinical Waste 600 -800 ℃ 1,800℃

3.2.1. Environmental Friendly Low Emissions Syngas combustion (homogeneous combustion) 3Ts (Time, Temperature, turbulence) Lower emissions such as PCDD/DFs, HCl and SO2 have positive impact for achieving permissions. (2) Energy and Material Recovery from Waste - Recycling material from waste without further post- treatment - Minimizing non-recyclables and landfill amount - Contributing to “Circular Society” or “Zero Waste”

3.3.1. Sustainability - Energy from Waste - Horizontal Boiler η : >28% (11 MJ/kg, 10t/h x 2 lines) Dust Removal: Rapping system Shower Cleaning Soot Blower for Economizer Lower maintenance problems Combustion chamber is also the part of the boiler

3.3.2. Sustainability - Material Recovery - slag Concrete block metal Slag Natural sand Soil Materials of Iron industries Counterweight for construction machine Interlocking block Marine Block

3.4.5. Reliability Technical Reliability Should have commercial plants, not demonstration Well proven Should know “WASTE” Company Reliability Should have strong financial condition Capability for EPC Single responsibility => Bankable technology (3) Operation support Operating experience Well-developed supporting system

3.4. Reliability - References - 36 years operation 10,000 - 230,000 t/a

3.4.1. Shin-Moji Plant Location / Purchaser Kitakyushu City, Japan Fuel Municipal solid waste Incombustibles Sewage sludge Capacity 3 x 10 t/h 9 100 - 12 000 kJ/kg Largest Waste Gasification Plant in operation Year of Start Up 2007 NSENGI Scope of Supply Full Turn key, Operation & Maintenance

3.4.2. Narumi Plant - Co-Gasification of Bottom Ash - Location / Purchaser Nagoya City, Japan Fuel Municipal solid waste Bottom ash Incombustibles Combustibles Capacity 2 x 11 t/h 6 500 kJ/kg Year of Start Up 2009 NSENGI Scope of Supply Full Turn key BOT Operation & Maintenance Bottom ash recycling is not allowed . The municipality has no landfill site Need solutions. Co-Gasification and recycling 87% reduction of final landfill amount

3.4.5. Reliability - Operating Support - (1) PlantPAD Monitored operating condition remotely Inspection data is recorded Checking operating data - ITV - Historical trend data - On-time operating condition easier maintenance management (2) Predictive Operating Many operating records can predict the operating conditions. Several parameters are picked up for predictive operation. Less operation load These supporting system lead easier “O&M” of gasification technology

4. Summary NSENGI Group has a capability to provide various solutions for clients. (gasification, incineration and others) The Direct Melting System can achieve both the energy and material recovery from waste without any pre- and post treatment. Driving factors of waste gasification for deployment are (1) Flexibility of waste (2) Environmental Friendly (3) Sustainability (Energy and Material recovery) (4) Reliability Especially, our waste flexibility have great possibility to contribute to “Circular Society” and to improve feasibility of the project.
