 The SMARTboard is an interactive, touch- sensitive white board that is used to enhance learning.  Includes many math resources such as question sets, and lesson activities.  Templates and notebooks can be purchased to gain more advanced activities for the SMARTboard.

 First the teacher orients the SMARTboard using the colored pens that come with it.  A wireless keyboard or the pens can be used to write down ideas on the screen.  Files can be exported, objects can be rotated, and video and audio can be recorded, along with much more.  Many programs, websites and tutorials can be used to enhance the learning experience with the SMARTboard.

 Elmo Visuals presenters and document cameras are used to create a live interactive teaching and the image transmission of documents and 3D objects –across the hall, and around the world.  Used for teaching at home and the classroom

 Nearly 250,000 schools have amplified classrooms so every student can focus on the lesson and not strain to hear the teacher over the ventilation system and other noises.  West Orange, N.J. amplified first grade classrooms at St. Cloud Elementary. No other changes were made to curriculum – only amplification. Reading scores in one year went from 59% to 89%.  Students seem to enjoy amplification stating that when the mic’s are not on it seems like the teachers are whispering.

 Online courses are classes taught entirely in a virtual classroom over the internet.  Online classes are becoming more and more integrated into all levels of education, from high schools to Yale.  Many exclusively online schools are accredited and offer a vast variety of degrees.  They offer a tremendous convenience, especially to non- traditional students.

 New literacies play a large role in online learning.  One must have not only the traditional literacies required to attend school, but also know how to use computers, the internet and many software programs.  Teachers are required to learn new literacies for online classes as well.

 Skype (A great form of communication as you get to see and hear the person that can be in a different room, state, or even country).  AIM (You are able to communicate and have conversations through the computer)  AOL/ (If you need to contact someone, you can send someone an even if they aren’t on the computer at the same time as you. )

 Once AOL came into society, communication was more significant and reliable.  Because of computers today, we can rely on communicating in so many ways.  As always, there has been internet but with the technology today, you can take classes online, and communicate through chats.  Communication is greatly important, and without the advancement of computers, we wouldn’t have everything we have today.
