2 Technology and Education Benefits of Technology Lessons are more interesting and appealing (as opposed to writing with chalk on a chalkboard) – It can make students want to pay attention! Finding information is faster (opening Internet Explorer as opposed to going to library and searching for a book) – It can save you time! A chance to be creative (as opposed to using the blackboard everyday for lessons) – It can be fun! Presenting information is easier (as opposed to writing lecture notes out on paper) – It can save you energy! Saving information is convenient (as opposed to keeping folders and notebooks on your desk in your house and classroom) – It can save you space! Technology brings different ways to present educational information to students – creating a fun and interesting learning environment. Several different technologies help all types of learners (Visual, Auditory, etc.) Kids love technology! Classrooms are now technology savvy. Schools and teachers continue to upgrade their materials and resources, benefiting everyone – teachers, students, and parents. Technology has changed education.

3 Web Pages Description: An internet resource that many people use to get in contact with others, post information, or research information Use: Provide contact information, Post news and classroom information, Have resources and classroom material available, Research topics, Social interactions Cost: Free! Websites are free to make, maintain and use (they are usually funded by the school) Benefits: Accessible, Informative, Easy to maintain, Easy to use, Personable, Creative Found: Classrooms, Businesses, Homes, Everywhere! 7 New technology has been created throughout the years These technologies have changed education. They have improved the way lessons are presented to students and increased the resources available to students Many people believe new technology has improved student learning Technology has made learning fun, interesting, and enjoyable for many students Technology has made teaching easier and less stressful for teachers Web Pages, PowerPoints, Smart Boards, and Podcasting are just a few examples of the new technology used in today’s society
