SSO ID Every student, faculty and staff member at UM-St. Louis has a unique SSO (Single Sign On) ID. Your SSO ID serves as your address and your login ID for numerous campus resources. Your SSO ID consists of 5 or 6 digits: your initials and three random characters. You will have to visit to look up and your SSO ID. DO NOT share your password. What if you forget your password?

Getting Connected Wireless Internet at UMSL Wireless Internet Access is available at UM-St. Louis in a variety of locations. The Interactive Campus Map can be used to locate various wireless internet areas on campus.Interactive Campus Map Network Name: TritonNet Register once per semester per device

Student Accounts Student Server Space Every student has been allotted virtual student server space. This server space allows you to store files, run programs, and create web pages on the server admiral. This 500 MB account will be automatically created for you once you are registered and have your SSO ID. Server space accounts are separate from your student accounts. Your Own Personal Web Site You can create your own personal web site that can be accessed by going to Once you publish your site it is accessible to the public to view your own personal web pages!

MyGateway MyGateway provides students and faculty with access to course materials, and a variety of programs that enable classroom communication and interaction using virtually any computer with a current web browser, and an Internet connection. MyGateway has many features like class , discussion forums, virtual chat, an address book, a calendar and task list, and a variety of other resources such as grades and job availabilities. My Gateway assistance is available in any of the staffed computer labs. Most of your instructors will make use of MyGateway; and if they do, it´s likely that you´ll be able to access class notes, handouts and other course materials from your residence hall or from home. To log on with your SSO ID and password, go to:

Every student has a 50mb campus account called studentmail. Studentmail is used for the distribution of UMSL official , such as registration notices, news updates, messages from your instructors, etc… Address: your address is: Password: your password is the same as your SSOID password that you set up when activating your account. Computer Labs The are 15 open access and discipline-specific academic support labs on campus. Windows XP, Macintosh OS X/Unix are the supported operating systems on campus. Visit the Lab Resource Matrix (located in the Online Student Technology Guide) for a complete listing of which resources are available in each lab.Lab Resource Matrix Know your SSO ID – you will need it to log on to all lab/classroom workstations. All labs have CD rewritable drives, and USB ports for flash memory drives for saving your work. Floppy drives are only available in limited lab locations and are being phased out.

Computer Labs (2) Variety of Software Available: MS Office 2007 (XP) 2008 (Mac), Visio, Project Web Browsers – Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox FTP software SPSS, SAS, and other statistical packages Graphics software Web development tools Visual Studio.NET 2003 (VB, C++, C#, J#)

Computer Labs (3) Printing: Most labs are equipped with laser printers. Printing is FREE! (Limit: 10 pages at a time.) PRINT RESPONSIBLY! **Note** Duplex Printing is also now available in most of our labs. Color: SSB 103, Thomas Jefferson, and Ward E Barnes libraries, Fine Arts 220 also offer COLOR printing on request. (Limit 1 copy) Scanning: The labs in SSB, Benton, Fine Arts, Music,Thomas Jefferson and Ward E Barnes libraries are equipped with color flatbed scanners for your coursework needs. CD Rewritable Drives: Many labs have CD rewritable drives available for saving your work. USB Drives: All computers on campus have USB ports for the use of flash memory devices. Computer Labs (4) During the Fall and Winter semesters, the labs will offer several free short-courses specifically designed for students. These cover basic topics like using MS Office applications, UNIX/Mac, and classes in HTML, and Viruses/Spyware. Check the Instructional Computing web site for schedules: Students can register for these courses at Teaching assistants (tutors) may also be available in the labs for particular coursework.

Technology Support Center The Technology Support Center (the campus “help desk”) is available to assist you in using the different systems available on campus. If you can’t login to a machine, have a disk problem, forget any of your account passwords or have a problem with any of the computing services in your dorm, give them a call or walk over to their office.
