History  Team Started in 1950’s –Oldest team in the US –Two Teams in past  URU 9 and URU 11  Has been one team since 2000  Membership Numbers –42 Members –6 Captains –1 Training Officer –1 Assistant Chief –1 Chief

History  Part of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Office –SAR –K-9 –Aero Squadron –Mounted Posse

Funding  Small Budget from Sheriff’s Office  Formed a Non-Profit  Money Comes from Donations By: –Individuals –Business’ –Companies  Savings –We save the Sheriff’s Office over $1 Million annually

Who Are We  All Volunteer Unit –Teachers –Construction workers –Business owners –IT people –Utility workers –Community members

Time Commitment  One meeting a month  One training dive a month  Call outs throughout the year –In all kinds of weather –Day or night

Time Commitment  As a New Member –Attend monthly meeting –Attend monthly training dive –Attend Public Safety Diving Academy  One Saturday a month for six months
