35 th Annual General Meeting C. 50 kg. Jute Bags for Food Grains and Sugar 50 kg. capacity cost effective Food Grain Bags  Two types of bags developed, evaluated & sent to FCI for field trials.  Stackability of 3000 bags in Punjab & Haryana was satisfactory.  Performance of the newly developed lighter sacking bags, as substitute of 665 gm. Bags, found satisfactory.  Field trials of 50 kg. capacity hemless bags ( 640 g) has been found satisfactory. Achievements :

35 th Annual General Meeting 50 kg. capacity lighter cost effective Sugar Bags :  3 types of 50 kg. capacity sugar bags developed & commercial trials successfully completed. i ) 34½” X 23”; 8X8 ; DW Plain ; Hemmed ; Sacking ; 630 g/bag ii) 36” X 22”; 11 X 14 ; Hemmed ; Hessian ; 475 g/bag iii) 36” X 22” ; 11 X 12 ; Hemmed ; Hessian (with 60 gauge HM HDPE food grade quality loose liner); 424g/bag  BIS has already taken necessary steps for finalising the specifications of above three types of bags. 35 th Annual General Meeting 55 kg. capacity Food Grain Bags :  Dimension of the 55 kg. capacity bags have been standardised.  Stacking trials have been conducted with FCI with the following two types of bags : i) 37” X 24” ; 6 X 7 ; DW Twill ; Sacking ; Hemmed ; 709 g/bag ; ii) 37” X 24” ; 10 X 10; DW Plain ; Tarpaulin; Selvedge ; 516g/bag  Stack formation has been found to be satisfactory. Achievements : (Contd.) Bags for packing commodities of different bulk densities & grain sizes have also been standardised in 4 categories namely coarse,semi-coarse, fine & very fine powdery substances

Jute Technical Textiles Achievements :  Different types of Jute Blended Technical (multicomponent) yarns have been developed and various types of substitute of asbestos fabric substitute products have been manufactured with entrepreneur.  Jute based Technical Textiles products meet the national & international standards for different specific end uses (Fabrics weight : 300 g/m g/m 2 ) Products developed with entrepreneur (NAMITTAR, Kolkata).  To replace asbestos fabrics used in the Friction Composite for Railways and Transport industries, three types of single / plied yarn (430 tex) developed from blends of jute ( upto 65% jute) with Kevlar, FR Viscose, Basofil. Products developed with entrepreneur ( Hindustan Co. Ltd., Mumbai).
