Harmonisation of Data

Objectives Develop a standard data description applicable to all fisheries Provide data necessary for the estimation of theoretical relationships and the construction of a practical computable enforcement model for the fishery in question Provide a project database containing data

Need data for management measures –Output restrictions (quotas) –Input restrictions (effort, days at sea) –Efficiency restrictions (restrictions on catch per unit effort through closed areas, gear, engine size, mesh-size) enforcement tools such as –On-board observers –Patrol vessels –Remote sensing –Dockside monitoring –Electronic log-book entry and monitoring etc. –and their association with costs and efficacy in generating compliance.

measures for enforcement intensity Number and hours of observers Hours flying per area of EEZs Number of patrol boats per number of fishing vessels and area. Remote sensing coverage (in terms of boats and data) Extensiveness of dockside monitoring (e.g. 50% of landings etc.) The coverage of log-books and their examination.
