A Notable Woman, whose teaching and nursing career helped the community to be a better place, Clara Barton. Janairy & Jocelyn 8-2

Early Years Clara Barton was born on December 25,1821 in North Oxford, Massachusetts. She had two brothers, David and Stephen, and two sisters, Sally and Dorothy, but Barton was the youngest. Barton father named Stephan, which people name his “Captain Stephan” a respected farmer, horse breeder and pollution; her mother name was Sarah Barton. Since she was the center of attention, she got most of her education from her brothers and sisters, also from her family, which thought her how to read and write. Clara was a shy child, when she entered school at Colonel Richard Stone's, she was the best students to learn quickly. The time her oldest brother David thought her how to ride anything on four legs, how to balance, and how to take care of nurse animals, she choose him as her favorite brother. When Clara was eleven, her favorite brother, David, fell from the roof of a barn while he was trying to fix it. He was not expected to live. Then, little Clara stepped up and offered to help. She stayed by David's side for three years, and the result was that he got well. Her hobbies were to take care of all her little animal friends and to learn about history, this is when her nursing career started.

What makes her a leader? Although Clara was a good student, she choose to get a job that she is good at. When Barton turned seventeen years old, her first job was to become a teacher in her hometown, Massachusetts. She thought her students how to prepare for their next big challenge for their future. As her teaching careers went well, she transfer to many different places to have the best teaching job ever. Six years later, Barton found her own school at New Jersey and became the principal of her own school, as the border over heard, they hired a men to become the principal of her school which frustrated her. When she was teaching, she volunteered for the civil war nursing department. She keep each soldier with good care and good treatment to help them survive. She took this job seriously, not because the country was on war and men were fighting, it was because she wants everyone to be in good care and in good hands; evey time she has a soldier that needs to be took care of, it reminded her of her favorite brother. Futher more in her life she was fatigue and needed rest, but she kept of working. She continue her writing skills and helping the Red Cross. As she was working she published her book named “The story of my childhood” in On April 12, 1912 Barton dying Glen Echo, Maryland. Barton was notice as a notable women because she she step up to the plate and helped out sertant people with her educating and nursing career.

Our thoughts of Clara Barton Although Clara Barton work hard and was fatigue, she was notice as a notable woman that kept making many changes in her career. However, we think she is one of the best notable women that we have ever known because she has change many people life by helping them with her teaching and her nursing career. We also believe that she is someone that can be admire at a early age she became a teacher; being a teacher was hard for her because she was a young girl. Since she was in a young age, she had worked non-stop in her career. Another reason Barton should be admire for her work is because she founded her own two school, even though she had to travel a million miles away from her hometown, she manage to give her students an education. Therefore, this is why we admire Clara Barton work. I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and fight, I can stand and feed and nurse them - Clara Barton
