Jack’s picture

Critique This is a good picture, however there are some slight problems. The very narrow depth of field has a really cool effect in the picture. As well, the amount of detail in the bark is amazing. I like the unusual angle that the picture is taken at; it feels like you are looking up at a huge tree. The issue I have with this picture is that there is no object in the foreground to give a sense of depth or scale; the whole picture is simply the tree. While this is a part of the uniqueness of the picture, it makes you feel “lost” visually.

Macro Lens I really enjoyed using the macro lens. It’s very different from the two lenses that we used all year. It was really cool at first, but there wasn’t that many things to take close up pictures in the classroom. It would be much more interesting to use outside, to shoot things like flowers or insects. I was also very impressed by the amount of depth of field control that the lens gives you.
