Whose More Athletic Boys or Girls By: MICHAEL HENDRICKS

Introduction Have you ever wondered whose more athletic boys or girl? I have wondered this and that is why I am testing the question. I will set up a vast array of events that will challenge both males and females, so I can then record and evaluate the results.

Hypothesis I predict that the boys will be more athletic than the girls.

20 Yard Dash It’s a measure of how fast you can run 20 yards

Vertical Jump Vertical Jump is a measure of how high an individual or athlete can elevate off the ground from a standstill The most common sports in which one's vertical jump is measured are track and field, basketball, football, and volleyball

Standing Broad Jump Test of how far you can jump from a standstill The jump is measured from the take-off line to the nearest point touched by any part of the body at the end of the jump Its purpose is to measure the explosive power of the legs longjump.htmhttp:// longjump.htm

Jump Rope It’s used to test agility and endurance Jumping Rope enhances coordination, agility, quickness, footwork, endurance

Sit and Reach The sit and reach test is a common measure of flexibility, and specifically measures the flexibility of the lower back and hamstring muscles The score is recorded to the nearest centimeter or half inch as the distance reached by the hand Variations in arm, leg and trunk length can make comparisons between individuals misleading reach.htm

Procedure 1.Gather Materials 2.Test all people on their vertical jump (Event 1) 3.Record Results 4.Test all people on 40 yd dash (Event 2) 5.Record Results 6.Test all people in the 3 cone drill (Event 3) 7.Record Results 8.Test all people in the Standing Broad Jump (Event 4) 9.Record Results 10.Test all people in the 1 minute Jump Rope (Event 5) 11.Record Results 12.Compare Results

Variables Independent: Gender Dependent: Event results

Conclusion My hypothesis was correct. Boys were better in each event except the 20 yard dash. If I could do the experiment again I would test more people and do more events to get better results.
