Objective: to measure our physical and skill related fitness levels. Fun fact of the day: the heart is approximately the same size as your fist. 2 Welcome to the Desert Hawk Scouting Combine

What is a scouting combine? - Each year, the best college football players take part in a series of workouts and tests to measure their fitness. -Players with the best scores and performances on the tests are selected earlier in the NFL draft in April, which means more $$$! -In our scouting combine, we are gathering data that will help us improve our overall physical fitness and athletic skill levels so that we can be more successful. NFL Combine

Introduction -During this week, you will be working towards completing your second Fitnessgram fitness test of the school year. -3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will record their scores. K, 1st, and 2nd take the test for practice. -All that is expected is that you give your best effort. Your score on the fitness tests will not negatively affect your grade in PE.

Introduction -There are 10 different fitness tests you will be taking. Each measure your different physical and skill related fitness levels. -Physical fitness components measured: muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance (body composition will not measured) -Skill related fitness components measured: speed, agility, and power (balance, coordination, and reaction time will not be measured)

Directions - At each station there will be a clipboard and pencil for you to record your BEST score only. Write your name and score on the sheet that has your classroom teacher's name on it. - You may take any of the tests as many times as you like. By the end of the week, you need to make sure you have a score recorded for all 9/10 tests. (PACER next week). -Avoid spending too much time (more than 10 minutes) at one station. -There should be no more than 6 people at each station.

Directions -Scoring is based on at least one fellow classmate, or witness who can verify your score. -We are on the honor system, so do not exaggerate your scores! -Any near grade level records, or unusual scores recorded will be retested for accuracy next week.

Fitnessgram Push-up Test -start in the up position -back in generally straight line -lower self by bending elbows to 90 degree angle -must stay down and up with the cadence -after two mistakes, your test is over -should be able to go far enough to touch the ball

Fitnessgram Curl-up test -start with knees bent at 45 degree angle, feet flat on the floor, arms straight with fingers extended. -on "up" command, raised shoulders off of ground and slide hands past the strip -on down command, return back to start positions. -after two mistakes, your test is over.
