DR Jean-Jacques Issermann Special Delegate of the President of the FIA Medical Commission

The "Medical" aspect is no longer dealt with in a separate chapter. It is included in the chapter specific to each discipline.

 The recommandations in Appendix H apply to  All international events

 Specific provisions exist for the FIA championships.  They are now clearly notified, chapter after chapter.

The chief medical officer:  Must write and speak English  Must have a deputy  Must attend the biennial seminar  Must, in anticipation of a mass accident, contact the qualified person.

 The doctors in the intervention cars must be experienced in taking charge of emergencies outside the hospital setting.

 In each medical vehicle : (intervention, extrication)  At least one person must understand and speak English.

 Two ambulances at the centre: At least one equipped for resuscitation.  For the helicopter: The conditions of use and of dispensation have been clarified.

Two arguments for defining the locations:  The nature of the terrain  The time it takes to go from one post to the next.

 N° 1 Private testing  N° 2 Qualifications of the chief medical officers for the FIA championships  N° 3 Mobile intervention equipment  N° 4 Equipment necessary for intensive care  N° 5 Equipment in the helicopter  N° 6 Design of the medical centre  N° 7 Extrication teams  N° 8 The FIA medical delegate

 N° 2: the criteria have been revised and clarified  N° 3 and 4: the equipment lists have been updated; they are not exhaustive  N° 6: the characteristics of the medical centre are now linked to the grade of the circuit.

 Handicapped participants are now called "participants with special abilities".  The assessment tests have been revised and clarified.  In rallies, in case of accident, the co-drivers must be capable of performing certain rescue and safety tasks.

 For the chief medical officer : Inform the FIA (medical department) of any accident.

 For the driver: In all cases, inform the medical delegate.  If the incapacity lasted 10 days or more, Present:  A certificate of recovery  A certificate from the driver’s ASN.

There are now three of these:  Circuits  Rallies  Karting

 More substantial  More precise  In perfect harmony with Appendix H and its supplements.

The questionnaire must be approved:  By the chief medical officer  By the ASN And:  For rallies, by the race director  For karting, by the organiser

 Notification of a safety exercise

Obligatory information on any change to:  The layout or content of the medical centre  The equipment in the medical cars  The trackside medical services.

From now on, items 4.1 to 4.4, namely:  Description of the medical centre and its content  Equipment in the medical intervention cars  Description of the anti-doping control premises can only be filled in once, except in the following cases:

 New circuit  New chief medical officer  Change of discipline  No FIA championships in the last 5 years
