Basic principles In granting a FIM licence or starting autorisation, the FMN doing so cerifies that the rider/passenger is ensured for personal accidents during official practices and competitions, covering : - Death 50’000 € - Permanent disability 25’000 € - Medical treatment and transport to hospital 10’000 € - Repatriation 4’000 € (Minimum amounts/Published in the FIM Yearbook) FMNs may apply special additional conditions to their own FIM licence holders concerning the benefits to be applied if the FIM minimum levels are not adequate according to their standards Amounts may change depending on the outcome of the FIM General Assembly

What to do? The rider or his team must: Collect a medical report from the CMO Contact his FMN Follow the FMN guidelines

What to do? The Chief Medical Officer must: Inform and update the Clerk of the Course (and FIM Race Director /FIM Medical Director when appointed) regarding the condition of the injured riders Liaise with the relevant hospital(s) to ascertain and report the progress of their condition and treatment Prepare a list of injured riders (Medically unfit list) Ascertain that fallen riders or rider returning from hospital are fit to continue competing in the event On the day after the event, forward to the FIM the Accident Report Form (App D) and Accident Statistic Form (E)

What to do? The Chief Technical Steward must: Together with FIM Permanent Technical Steward, examine the motorcycle and protective gear of any rider involved Must prepare a written report on his findings

What to do? The Jury President/FIM Delegate must: Make sure that the accidents are mentioned in the reports of the meetings of the International Jury/Race Direction State the accidents in his report Make sure that he receives the Accident Report Form (App D) and Accident Statistic Form (App E) from the Chief Medical Officer Add the Accident Report Form and Accident Statistic Form to his report/file and send it to the FIM

What to do in case of fatalities? The Organiser /Venue Operator must: - Photograph the scene Photograph the vehicle(s)/ rider’s equipment (helmet, etc) Impound vehicle(s)/rider’s equipment (helmet, etc) and check for failures Obtain witnesses’ names, addresses and telephone numbers Seek and obtain video and photographic evidence from any source (Be cautious if asking spectators) Designate a competent person to answer any questions from the team/relatives/media - Be careful to whom you speak and with the information you give

What to do in case of fatalities? The Jury President/FIM Delegate must gather the following information: - FIM Race Director/Clerk of the Course’s reports - Flag Marshals/Observers’ reports - Any other witnesses’ reports - Chief Medical Officer report - Chief Technical Steward’s report - Racing/Medical radio log - Check how the accident affected the Officials In case of fatalities, the FMN of the rider must be informed

What to do in case of fatalities? The Jury President/FIM Delegate must gather the following documents: - Circuit control report - Track plan - Event Supplementary Regulations - Event final and supplementary instructions - Event time schedule - Copy of the third party insurance policy of the event - Copy of the legal authorisations to organise the event In case of fatalities
