Timeline for Chapter 2 1891 – Austrian Hans Gross publishes Criminal Investigations, the first description of the uses of physical evidence in solving crimes. 1892 – Sir Francis Galton publishes his book “Fingerprints”, establishing the individuality of fingerprints and a first classification system. 1915 – Professor Leone Lattes develops the first antibody test for ABO blood types. 1916 – Albert Schneider of Berkley, California first uses a vacuum apparatus to collect trace evidence. 1920 – Edmond Locard announces the Locard’s Exchange Principle.
