Why did CGH Choose VirtualWisdom? Existing tools were not doing the job for us. We needed a consolidated monitoring platform instead of relying on the tools provided by each piece of hardware. We were preparing to replace our old SAN technology. Our CIO felt that we needed a tool that would allow our administrators to see what was happening within our SAN infrastructure. We felt that our existing SAN infrastructure was causing performance problems with our applications. Virtual Instruments was a partner with our storage vendor. We felt very strongly that a partnership with Virtual Instruments would benefit CGH even though this was a major purchase for us.

How has CGH benefited from VirtualWisdom? The VI team identified potential performance problems within hours of installing VirtualWisdom. Reports and graphs give a clear view of problems and confirmation when the problem is resolved. Issues discovered include queue depth problems, load balancing on HBA’s, zoning, SCSI aborts. Monitoring of multiple virtual machines is easier. The Virtual Instruments support team has been great to work with. Going forward VirtualWisdom will be used to Identify potential problems before they impact the users. VirtualWisdom will be our primary tool to either identify a problem in our storage environment, or rule the environment out as the cause of a problem.
