Five Pillars of Islam Shahadah: إلاَّ الله أشهد أن لا إله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله (testimony/declaration) To bear witness that is none worthy of Worship except Allah SWT (The Creator) and that Muhammad (PBUH) is His Messenger Salah: The performing of the Five Daily Prayers to strengthen and commit ones life in the way of Allah SWT and leads one’s life according to The Holy Scriptures (Quran & Sunnah) by seeking forgiveness and guidance from the creator five times a day, 1) Fajr (between dawn & sunrise) 2) Zohr (said after mid-day & late afternoon) 3) Asr (late afternoon & just before sunset) 4) Maghrib (straight after sunset) 5) Isha (late evening to just before dawn) Zakah: (Charity) The meaning of Zakah is to purify, that is to say purify ones earnings and give in charity 2.5% of ones net savings annually and distribute among the poor, needy and destitute Sawm: (Fasting) To abstain from food, drink sexual intercourse as well as evil intentions and desires from Dawn to Sunset during the month of Ramadan Hajj: (Pilgrimage to Makkah) Compulsory once in a lifetime if one has the means financially and can physically endure the journey

Benefits Shahadah, We learn to commit ourselves not merely with words but with the heart, mind and soul Salah, Five times a day we remember and submit ourselves to the creator, seeking forgiveness & mercy for our sins and look for divine guidance Zakah, by giving charity we accept socio and economic responsibility for our fellow human beings Sawm, Fasting teaches us self-restraint, obedience of our creator, we learn about hunger, thirst Hajj, One of the world’s largest religious gathering annually, Hajj teaches us to break down the barriers of class, social & ethnic backgrounds, colour, creed by bringing together people across the world where everyone has to perform the same duties, go through the same motions as well as dressing the and behaving in the same way and manner because as far as our Lord and Creator is concerned we are all equal
