Aim: Which literary techniques are utilized in the short story, “Cemetery Path”? Literary Element: these are elements that are part of any work of fiction. They are necessary features such as plot, character, conflict, theme, setting Literary Technique: tools that an author uses to express the story, irony, foreshadow, symbol, metaphor, etc.

What is the setting of “Cemetery Path”? Setting - Element Refers to the time and place of a story. What is the setting of “Cemetery Path”?

Irony - Technique The use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of what is intended Key word: intended, intention; opposite What did Ivan intend to accomplish by walking through the cemetery? How can Ivan’s death be considered ironic?

Foreshadow - Technique The use of hints or clues to indicate what will happen later in the story. What are some examples of foreshadow in the story?
