The Holy Spirit As A Gift

Who is the Holy Spirit? Deity not an entity, He is God Referred as the finger and hand of God A person not an object nor a dove –a mind and a will (Rom 8:27, 1Cor 2:11) –emotions(Rom 15:30, Gal 5:22, Eph 4:30) –speaks clearly (1Tim 4:1, Heb 3:7) –Can be resisted, insulted, lied to (Heb 10:29, Acts 7:51, Acts 5:1-11)

Christianity Without Him: Christianity becomes dry and mundane, monotonous There is no fellowship with God (Ephesians 2:18 NLT) Church becomes a social club There is no revelation There is no joy, no peace, no freedom It’s all about relationship not religion

Where is Holy Spirit? In heaven? On earth? In my heart? Ephesians 2:18 NLT “Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us” Why was it best for us that Jesus goes a way? Read John16:7

The Fellowship of Holy Spirit Are you primarily interested in the person of the Holy Spirit? Or in the power of the Holy Spirit? 2 Cor 13:14: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all”

1- The Holy Spirit is My Advocate John 16:7 NIV An advocate: –Recommends a plan or action –Works for your interest –Defends you –Speaks and write in your favor

2- The Holy Spirit is my Comforter John 14:26 KJV A comforter: –Relaxes and makes sure you are content –Makes sure you have all you need –Stops your worries and unhappiness

3- The Holy Spirit is my Helper John 16:7 NASB A helper: –Assists you accomplish an assignment –Supports you to do a task –A partner or ally

4- The Holy Spirit is my Guide John 16:13 NIV A guide: –Shows you the way in difficult and dangerous regions –Assists you to travel or reach a destination –Gives you good directions

5- The Holy Spirit is my Teacher John 14:26 NIV A teacher: –Gives instructions –Imparts knowledge or skill

6- The Holy Spirit reveals Christ John 16:12-15 NIV He glorifies Christ through us Signs, wonders, and miracles through the Holy Spirit reveals Jesus Example: Acts 3
