34 “Does The Holy Spirit Lead and Influence the Christian?’”
Does He lead and influence Christians directly and mysteriously, apart from the revealed Word of God? Or does He lead and influence Christians by means of the inspired Word which He revealed? “Does The Holy Spirit Lead and Influence the Christian?’” God Dwells in us – Cor. 6:16; 1 John 4:12 Jesus dwells in us John 14:20; Eph. 3:17 HOW? John 14:23,24; 15:1-8; 2 John 1:7-9

35 The Work of The Holy Spirit
In The Life of The Christian Romans 8:16-17 (NKJV) The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [17] and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. Entrance – through the mind – (8:1-8) . . . Those who are in Christ walk according to the Law of the Spirit (1,2) Christ made forgiveness possible (3,4) The Law of the Spirit is followed by those who set their mind on it – (5-8) Dwells – You must be in the Spirit in order for the Spirit to be in you – (9-11) Since they are walking in accordance with the Law of the Spirit – it can rightly be said that the Holy Spirit has a great influence upon how they live their lives! The Holy Spirit controlled their thinking and actions through the law that He delivered, Christians are instructed to let the “Word of Christ dwell in them richly” – Col. 3:16 Although the physical consequences of sin are not avoided by submitting to the Law of the Spirit, the righteousness that is acquired through obedience to the gospel, (Rom. 1:16,17) will bring about victory over death because we will be raised from the dead. (10) Kills – The Deeds of the flesh – (12,13) Serving Christ is our reasonable service – (Romans 12:1, By the transforming of our mind) Those who will not submit to the Law of the Spirit – they will die spiritually, eternally, But Those who PUT TO DEATH through the Spirit the deeds of the flesh, (evil or disgraceful deeds) will live eternally with God! Leads – Unto son-ship, (14) [cf. Gal. 3:26,27] (NOT DRUG) For as many as No more and no less (1 Cor. 12:13) Assures – Bears witness/ Hope – (15-25) When we have complied with the “Law of The Spirit” we have confidence. Leads

36 The Work of The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit “Bears Witness” – With our Human Spirit In The Life of The Christian our Human Spirit The Holy Spirit “Bears Witness” With Believe – Acts 8:37 (NKJV) Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." Confess – Romans 10:9 (NKJV) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Repent – Acts 17:30 (NKJV) Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, Be baptized – 1 Peter 3:21-22 (NKJV) There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, [22] who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. Be faithful – Col. 1:21-23 (NKJV) And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled [22] in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight-- [23] if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. Confess, Repent & Pray – Acts 8:22 (NKJV) Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Believe – Acts 8:37 Confess – Romans 10:9 Repent – Acts 17:30 Be baptized – 1 Peter 3:21 Be faithful – Col. 1:23 Confess, Repent & Pray – Acts 8:22; 1 John 1:9 I have done those things!

37 EXACTLY HOW the Holy Spirit influences and leads us through the Word which He inspired is a MYSTERY to us. Whenever God presents man with a mystery, it is man’s tendency to go beyond the revealed Word and SPECULATE about the mystery. This results in man-made doctrines and practices, which always cause DIVISIONS. Explaining The Expression – “Dwells In”

38 Will You Obey The Gospel? Hear the Gospel (Rom. 10:17)
Believe that Jesus is the Son of God (Mk. 16:16) Repent of Your Sins (Acts 17:30) Confess Jesus as Lord (Rom. 10:9-10) Be Baptized for Forgiveness of Sins (Acts 2:38) Live Faithfully until You Die (Rev. 2:10)
