1. DISCIPLE OF JESUS, YOU HAVE A MISSION

2. Acts 1:4-8- “On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: ‘Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father

3. promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ So when they met together, they asked him,

4. ‘Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.

5. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses

6. in Jerusalem, in all Judea in all Samaria to the ends of the earth

7. Wait for the power of the Holy Spirit before you witness.

8. We are not good at waiting.

9. If you want to be transformed into an effective witness for Christ, you need the Spirit.

10. The first fulfillment of Acts 1:8 came in Acts 2:1-8.

11. The Spirit will help you speak about Jesus in a way that will be understood.

12. If we pray and ask for help, the Spirit will give us the courage we need to witness about Jesus to our world.

13. This help for witnessing is made available by the Holy Spirit for ALL believers.

14. Be my witnesses

15. Witnesses are those who see something and tell others about it. We are all witnesses to something.

16. The early disciples had seen Jesus and were totally convinced that He was who He said He was and He could do what He said He could do.

17. Witnessing is like a farmer planting seed.

18. The work of Jesus is both finished and unfinished.

19. 1 Corinthians 2:4-5- “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words,

20. but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.”

21. Be my witnesses everywhere.

22. The more we submit to the Spirit’s control and ask Him to help us be the witnesses of Jesus the further into the world He will take us.

23. The compelling motive He’s coming back.
