What is a cavity? Spaces inside the body that contain and protect organs

Cranial Cavity - contains the brain

Reproductive organs (Urinary)

Spinal Cord Only

Contains: Heart, lungs, bronchi, trachea, esophagus, and thymus gland

Contains: stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, small & large intestines, and appendix

What is a Cavity? Name The Cavities- What two cavities are sometimes combined? Quick Review Spaces inside the body that contain and protect organs Cranial, Dorsal, Thoracic, Spinal, Abdominal, Pelvic Abdominal / Pelvic Abdominopelvic

Abdominal Pelvic Regions- Subdivisions of the combined abdominal and pelvic cavity Epigastric- just below sternum(breastbone) Umbilical-around navel/umbilicus Hypogastric- below stomach (pubic area) Hypochondriac- below ribs Illiac- right and left of pubic area aka inguinal Lumbar- on each side of umbilicus Extends anterior/posterior

Abdominal Quadrants: four subdivisions used to reference abdominal organs
