 Go onto classroom.google.com.  Click on the Character Change Template.  You will be analyzing how Madame Loisel changes throughout the story.  Your findings will also help you for a future writing assignment where you will complete an opinion paragraph.  I have provided you with three examples.  It is your job to come up with two more examples for EACH section; (beginning, middle, and end of story).  Once you have completed it, select the “turn in” button in classroom google to turn your assignment in.

CHARACTER CHANGE DESCRIPTIVE MAP Use the drawing tools to make this Thinking Map your own. Use the text box to add text and insert pictures from the Insert menu. Beginning Middle End discontent wiser prideful Mrs. Loisel “She grieved over the shabbiness of her apartment, the dinginess of the walls, the worn-out appearance of the chairs..” (161). “She danced madly, wildly, drunk with pleasure, with no thought for anything, in the triumph of her beauty” (164). “’Yes, I've had a hard time since last seeing you. And plenty of misfortunes-and all on account of you!’” (168).

 Copy down the following prompt to respond to in your opinion paragraph.  Write an Opinion Paragraph on Mme. Loisel; responding to the prompt below.  You can use your Character Change Map to help you:  Did Mathilde’s yearning for wealth and social status bring about her downfall, or was it fate (an event beyond her control)?  NEXT: On your piece of paper below the prompt, draw a Circle Map.  Example on the following slide:

Place either your selection of “Yearning for wealth and social status” or “fate” inside the small circle. Brainstorm reasons for why you selected your choice. You need at least 8 reasons.
