5 Illustrating Visionary Authors work really hard to pick just the right words to describe characters, setting, and events. Pick a time when you think your author was particularly good at describing. Create a drawing, collage, or other creative piece of artwork to make a visual of your author’s description. Each group member might visualize the story differently. That’s ok!

6 Quality Quote Detective Find a sentence, sentences, or paragraph that you really liked. What makes this quote interesting to you? Word Choice Description Important part of story Humor Figurative Language Confusing Any other reason you think it’s great!

7 Sizzling Vocab Spotter Find a word that stands out to you. New to You Interesting Good Choice by Author New Usage Why did the author use this word instead of another? Could you use this word in your writing or daily life?
