Presentation on theme: "Peer Edit. Write “Peer Edited By:_______”, at the top of your partner’s paper, filling in the blank with your name."— Presentation transcript:

Peer Edit

Write “Peer Edited By:_______”, at the top of your partner’s paper, filling in the blank with your name.

Read the entire essay, looking for anything that sounds confusing or awkward. If you can fix a problem you find, fix it. Otherwise, just mark it ‘Awk’ for “awkward”. Mark run-on sentences ‘RO.’

Circle the thesis. The thesis is the sentence in the intro that best answers the question from the prompt: “How do the two poems differ in their view of love?” If your partner wrote one sentence for each poem, write, “Make 2 sentences into 1.” If no sentence does this, write “Needs thesis.”

Write “TS” next to each topic sentence that begins a body paragraph. A topic sentence cannot be a quote; it is a sentence that introduces us to the topic of the paragraph. If a body paragraph lacks a topic sentence, write “Needs TS” at the beginning of the paragraph.

Write ‘CD’ (concrete detail) next to each quote or fact. CDs in this essay are likely to be lines copied from the poem with quote marks around them. If your partner has fewer than two CDs in either of the two paragraphs about the poems, write “Add more CDs.”

Write ‘CM’ next to each sentence of commentary. Commentary for this essay explains how a line in the poem reveals the poet’s view of love. If a quote is not followed by commentary, write “Needs CM.”

Make an outline of your partner’s essay.

The conclusion should explain which poem is closer to your partner’s view of love. Write the name of the poem which is closest to their view of love in the margin with a heart next to it. If the conclusion doesn’t say, write, “Which poem is closest to your view of love?” in the margin.
