The Company ViaTech is a Norwegian Company with a comprehensive range of tailor-made products and services aimed at road, rail and airport authorities. Our products include: –Profile Measuring Systems –Texture Measuring System –Photographic Systems –Friction Measuring Systems –Distance Measuring System –Data Management Systems

Pavement Profile Scanner (ViaPPS)

ViaPPS is a laser scanner used for measuring and inspecting a whole range of surfaces. These includes: - Rut depth - Rut depth, area and width - Cross fall - Curve radius - Position for center line marking, quality of road markings in center and side.

Pavement Profile Scanner (ViaPPS) By including the ViaTSC ( Texture scanner) the system will also measure: - IRI (International Roughness Index) - MPD (Mean Profile Depth) Option: - ViaPPS can include automatically crack detection for pavement cracks wider than 3,5 mm

Pavement Profile Scanner (ViaPPS) Due to the high number of measured points across the road lane, ViaPPS will also detect the following: - Bad joints of the asphalt - Holes and cracks - Edge slump - Asphalt bleeding - Asphalt patching - Manhole covers - Height and profile of sidewalk - Quality of road marking

Pavement Profile Scanner (ViaPPS)

The Pavement Profile Scanner (ViaPPS) has the following characteristics: 600 measuring points over the width of the road 16 cm between each scan at a vehicle speed of 80 km/h measurement width 4 meters

ViaPPS / ViaSPS Recorder Operators interface

ViaPPS / ViaSPS Desktop Office program for analyzing measured data

ViaPPS Analyzer ViaPPS- Repeatability of rut depth

ViaPPS- Repeatability of cross fall ViaPPS Analyzer

ViaPPS- Repeatability of longitudinal profile ViaPPS Analyzer

Pavement Profile Scanner (ViaPPS) The measuring results from ViaPPS and ViaTSC has the following accuracy: Rutting < 0,20 mm Crossfall < 0,25 % IRI < 0,10 mm/m MPD < 0,05 mm

Texture Scanner ( ViaTSC )

The Texture Scanner (ViaTSC) has the following characteristics: one line measurement vertical accuracy 0,045 mm 0.35 mm between each point at a vehicle speed of 40 km/h

Repeatability International Roughness Index (IRI) ViaPPS Analyzer

Repeatability Mean Profile Depth (MPD) ViaPPS Analyzer

Sector Profile Scanner (ViaSPS)

The Sector Profile Scanner (ViaSPS) has the following characteristics: 600 measuring points over the width of the road 16 cm between each scan at a vehicle speed of 80 km/h Measurement angle is 87° Measuring distance is 10m Measuring accuracy is +/- 0,5cm

Digital Photo System (ViaPhoto)

ViaTech’s Digital Photo System is mainly used for inspection and maintenance planning of road, rails and airport runways. Maintenance planning is based on the information gathered about pavement surface and vegetation growth as well as the status of such factors as all signs, markings and safety barriers. The Digital Photo System is also highly suitable to document sub suppliers’ maintenance work and the drivers’ view distance. The Digital Photo System automatically produces high quality digital images from a vehicle of your choice. All pictures are marked with information such as road data and time. Digital Photo System (ViaPhoto)

Recorder (ViaPhoto)

Digital Photo System (ViaPhoto) ViaPhoto has the following characteristics: The recommended minimum time between pictures is 0,5 seconds. The normal shutter time outdoors is 1/5000 sec. At 80 km/h the vehicle travels only 5 mm while the picture is taken, ensuring that even the smallest details are visible. In tunnels the normal shutter time is 1/25 sec allowing sufficient information to be recorded. This precision is available with normal dipped headlights, which means no disruption to the flow of traffic. All elements in the picture can be measured. The horizontal and vertical ruler resolution is 1cm at a distance of 10 m.

ViaFriction ViaFriction is a one-wheel trailer, measuring the degree of friction of the pavement surface. ViaFriction is developed for both winter and summer conditions. A unique measuring technology has been developed for ViaFriction, continuously measuring the real friction in between the tire and the road surface. The technology gives stable results in various conditions, reducing the need for calibrations. ViaFriction has few moving parts. This ensures that the unit is almost maintenance free. ViaFriction is using an electric break in order to break the measuring wheel. The generated power is used to keep the unit free from snow and ice during winter conditions.

ViaFriction Measurements during summer conditions requires a water film in between the road surface and the test tire. ViaFriction units delivered for both summer and winter conditions will include a system to apply the water film. The watering system includes a water tank on a trailer or in the trunk of the vehicle. ViaFriction will run freely behind the vehicle during transport distances, but the unit may also be fitted with a device lifting the unit off the road.

ViaFriction ViaFriction has the following characteristics: Weight approximately 80kg Fixed and variable slip measurements Watering system Optional lifting device Maximum measurement speed, road version: 90 km/h Minimum measurement speed, road version: 15 km/h Maximum measurement speed, airport version: 120 km/h Minimum measurement speed, airport version: 30 km/h

Friction Measuring System ViaTrip µ ViaTech’s Friction Measuring System measures the degree of friction of the pavement surface, in all winter conditions. It can be installed in a standard car without any additional mechanical components. This ensures a quality control of the friction measurements, the driver has to follow a procedure using the car brakes to initialise the logging of the friction data. If the correct procedure is not followed, the system will automatically warn the driver and the measured data will be cancelled.

Data Distribution System (ViaLink) The Data Distribution System’s task is to share data from measurement systems in the vehicle with relevant groups. The logged measurements are tagged with information from the trip sensor and verified with the GPS. The information is sent to a central server using mobile communication. This information is encrypted and compressed in order to achieve a fast and failsafe transfer. The central server distributes the data using standard to one or more recipients.
