When are Rehearsals? -Rehearsals will be Tuesday & Thursday morning at 7:30am. If your child is going to miss choir, please the directors. Three un-excused absences from choir will result in the student taken out of choir. -Please pull up to the curb and wait until the directors wave the students to come out of the cars. Safety is so important to us!

Frank Choir Concerts Monday, December 9, Winter Concerts at Frank at 8:30am, 7pm Saturday, December 21, Concert before Musical at CLC at 2:30pm Tuesday, February 4, Pre-TMEA Concert at CLC at 7pm Thursday, February 13, Frank Choir Performs at TMEA in San Antonio It is SO important that each child attends each concert. An un-excused absence from a performance will result in removal from choir. Please be sure that you have signed the form to allow your child to be photographed and video taped.

Eligibility To perform on our Frank Choir Concerts, each member must maintain a 70 or above in their academic grades and no “U’s” on their conduct on the 9 Weeks report card. If a child becomes ineligible due to failing grade or conduct, the child will not be able to perform the upcoming concert until they bring up their grade or conduct. The choir member needs to continue to attend choir rehearsals. Oct 25 & Jan 16 are the end of the grading periods.

What is Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA)? A professional organization for Music Educators that includes membership not only from Texas, but across our entire country. Over 11,000 members Annual convention is in San Antonio in February Over 25,000 people are projected to attend. graphics courtesy of

What is an invited choir? Each year, teachers from around the entire state submit recordings of their school choir in hopes of being invited to perform at the convention. This year only 6 elementary choirs from the entire state of Texas were selected. Frank choir was honored to be one of the six invited elementary choirs!

Klein Tradition of Excellence Frank Elementary will be the 34 th ensemble from Klein since 1986 to be invited to perform at TMEA. In both Mrs. Cookus and Mrs. Sharp had ensembles invited to perform at TMEA. Greenwood Forest Elementary Chimes Jo Lynn Cookus and Susan Worosello, Directors and Klein Collins High School Mixed Choir Jan Juneau, Director and Kaylyn Sharp, Assistant Director

When and where do we perform? Thursday, February 13 at noon. In San Antonio, Texas at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center

How will we travel there? The students will travel by charter bus to and from San Antonio on the same day. Parents are welcome to attend by following the buses in their cars. We will need parent chaperones on the bus and at the convention. Your child may ride back with you instead of on the charter bus if prior arrangements are made.

What costs will their be? The district pays for the charter buses to and from San Antonio. Each child will purchase their tux shirt and provide their black pants, black socks, and black shoes for the performances. Each child will also need to purchase a “Frank Choir” t-shirt…details coming soon. Further details about lunch, etc. will come in January.

What will the students wear for the performance? Students will wear their Frank Choir uniform: – Long Black dress Pants (hem to their shoes, no capris pants) – Black Socks – Black dress Shoes (no sneakers) – Cummerbund and bowtie (school provides) – Hairstyle not in face – White tux shirts

Paying for the Tux Shirts Al’s Formal Wear is sizing the children tonight. Tux shirts will be $18. This includes tax and handling charge. Parents will pay on-line at

TONIGHT Please pick up a choir rehearsal and performance schedule to take home. Please be sure your child is measured for their tux shirt. Pay on-line at home.
