WELCOME to the Lone Star Elementary Singing Stars Choir! I am so glad you decided to become a part of an excellent group of students/singers. I am looking forward to a great year of learning more about singing and developing the spirit of teamwork as we prepare for performances.
REHEARSALS - Rehearsals are an integral part of being successful as a choir. Students will learn their music faster and easier the more rehearsals they attend. Our choir rehearses Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:15 a.m. If there are unexpected changes to the rehearsal schedule, I will inform you via Remind. For other rehearsal changes, I will update the calendar on my school webpage. On rehearsal days, choir members will enter at the front entrance of the school. Parents, you may park in the visitor parking lot and walk your child to the front doors but for safety reasons, please remain with your child until 7:45. Only choir members are allowed to enter at that time. Younger siblings will need to remain with parents until the doors officially open for all students at 7:50. If your child rides a bus to school, they may report to the music room as soon as they are released from their bus.
PERFORMANCES - Our performances are opportunities for the students to display all of their hard work and talent. Although I know conflicts arise, it is important for students to attend as many performances as possible. Each choir member contributes to the overall success of the choir and even when only one person is absent, we ALL miss their voice.
UNIFORM – All choir members will need to purchase a choir shirt as part of their uniform for the year. The shirts are available for purchase through the following website:
This link is also available on my LSE teacher webpage. The cost of each shirt is $13 plus a $2 processing fee per order. All orders must be placed by Friday, October 6th. On that date, the company will close orders and begin processing for delivery. All shirts will be shipped to LSE and I will distribute them to students during rehearsal. Unless otherwise noted, students will be required to wear their choir shirt with jeans and close-toed shoes (no flip flops or sandals) to each performance. Shirts are available in youth and adult sizes. The company told me they run true to size.
REMIND & CALENDAR – Attached to this packet you will find instructions for signing up for my Remind class. I use Remind often to communicate with choir parents. I am currently working on securing performance opportunities for the choir and will get a calendar to you as soon as everything is finalized.
