Background Orange County is 5 th largest municipality in the State of Florida The operational responsibility of Public Works requires a large inventory of heavy equipment and rolling stock Public Works Heavy Equipment & Rolling Stock –1100 Pieces of equipment –Valued at $42 M

Orange County has experienced an average equipment loss of $77 K per year over the last five year Public Works equipment remains at work site overnight for efficiency

History of Loss Equipment is subjected to vandalism and theft Public Works in recent months has experienced the theft of 3 pieces of equipment totaling $175 K

History of Loss Discussions on methods for securing equipment were held with County Administration and other affected Departments in March 2014 Staff discussed a number of options Public Works and the Procurement Division determined Lo Jack as most cost effective option
