Module Production Brussels Ê Problems with vacuum chambers in plate solved 4 Almost all plates back in Brussels (repaired in Aachen) Ë Problem with rotation motor (U-motor) solved 4 observed and implemented the (in)famous sine-wave curve 4 sine-wave amplitude changed by putting on the syringe tool Ì Performed a long series of dry assemblies Jorgen D’Hondt (for the Brussels Group) Tracker week – January 2005

Problem with rotation motor (U-motor) solved New U-motor installed (in 2004) First tests indicate we have the ‘sine-wave’ feature as observed by other labs… zero position Applied angle from zero position (mdegrees) This function was measured several times and found to be stable… Fortunately we apply always the same angle between supply and assembly position. Hence this ‘sine-wave’ effect in negligible !!

Problem with rotation motor (U-motor) solved The sine-wave curve seems to be stable We toke the average of three measurements Fitted with a polynomial of eight order (good !) Rotation angles we apply are smaller than 200 mdeg

Problem with rotation motor (U-motor) solved There is some general effect when mounting the syringe tool on the Gantry axis ~8 mdeg The syringe tool could exert a force on the axis We have sets of dry assemblies with and without the syringe tool and see clear differences. We have corrections on top of the sine-wave curve C x, C y, C  for all sensor and hybrid positions. These will now be implemented and tested with a second set of dry assemblies. December 2004 (without the syringe tool) now : with the syringe tool now : without the syringe tool Once we mount the syringe tool we will touch it any more to avoid stability problems.

Summary Plates Plates Ê Vacuum problems solved on all plates (thanks Aachen) Ë Supply plate adapted for alignment sensors (thanks Aachen) Rotation motor replaced and tested Rotation motor replaced and tested Ê (In)famous ‘sine-wave’ feature observed and implemented Ë Observed to depend on the ‘weight’ attached to the Gantry axis Towards real module production Ê Performed a long series of dry assemblies  Now testing the final corrections (expected RMS(  ) ~ 2-3 mdeg) Future (from 14 th of February onwards – expect 40 R5N hybrids) Ê Running production line scheme for the technicians
