Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 Gaming Standards Association Presents

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 The S2S Charter The System-to-System (S2S) Committee is charged with designing standard casino systems interface specifications that reduce the engineering efforts required in developing, implementing, maintaining and enhancing customer specific casino configurations. This standard allows for common communication between multiple gaming and non-gaming systems within the casino environment.

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 What Is S2S?  S2S – System To System communications  Communications between back-end servers Based on current, proven technology standards; XML, TCP/IP, HTTP, etc  Supports high-speed communications amongst back-end servers Fiber Optic, Gigabit Ethernet, etc  Designed to complement and support BOB (Best Of Breed)  S2S and BOB use common message handling methodologies  Consists of two components:  S2S Message Standards  S2S Transport Standards

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 S2S Committee Goals  Develop interface standards in two areas:  Communication between various gaming hosts, (e.g., accounting, player tracking, security, progressive controllers, advertising/promotion displays, etc.)  Communication between gaming hosts and non-gaming host systems, to affect a hospitality/gaming industry solution. The group will form a mutually cooperative relationship with HITIS and the hospitality industry to develop these interface standards

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 S2S Committee Goals  Focus on using industry standards including, but not limited to; TCP, SSL, fully formed XML and other IP protocols for the primary protocol, and physical transport technologies including, but not limited to, Ethernet and other IP transport mechanisms  Focus on definition of standardized message schemas related to moving data and the sequence of those messages  Work with acceptance by the regulatory agencies in mind

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 Why S2S? Today’s Challenges… Simply put: There are no standards today.  Today casinos are equipped with various management systems that collect data from different areas of the casino floor, such as slot accounting systems and player tracking for slot/video games, table tracking and rating systems for table games, etc.

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 Why S2S? Today’s Challenges…  These management systems are not linked and therefore do not allow the casino a "full view" of their gaming operations and "real time" patron activities  If the casino operates a hotel, information between the hospitality and casino operations is only available if the casino has developed their own system or has made significant investments for 3 rd party interfaces; linking the casino management system to the hospitality and POS management systems

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 The S2S Approach  The "System-to-System" (S2S) standard provides not only the communication for Casino’s to link their various casino database systems, but also provides a link to their hospitality / POS systems  The S2S protocol is based on commonly available computer technologies, therefore gaming operators and system providers will be able to use off-the-shelf network equipment and development tools that will not require unique or custom interfaces to function

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 The Benefits: Who and How  Manufacturer Benefits  Reduced development costs  Faster approval cycle  Reduced cost to integrate systems  Can concentrate on added value

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 The Benefits: Who and How  Operator Benefits  Wider choice of vendors  Better tools to help increase the bottom line  Simple equipment integration through "Plug and Play" implementation  Quicker integration  Easier maintenance  Reduced service costs  Increased operating time, less down time  Larger variety of games to choose from

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 The Benefits: Who and How  Regulator Benefits  Common features between Manufacturers simplifies testing and approval  Built-in compliance with increased security  Simple compliance verification for approval and auditing  Requires fewer resources to verify compliance  More approval resources allocated towards games  Cross trained regulatory engineers  Easier to train field regulators on one protocol  Easier to regulate the systems activities

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 The Benefits: Who and How  Affiliate Benefits  Complementary skill sets  Universal world-wide architecture and support  Coordinated roll-out of capabilities  Shared expertise

Global Gaming Expo - October 2004 S2S: Work Progress  Release S2S Message Protocol v1.01 standard - Q4/2004  Establish a technical roadmap for S2S committee - Q1/2005  Implementation of the S2S certification program – Q1/2005  Release Development Suite for S2S v1.00 – Q2/2005  Release Development Suite for S2S v1.01 – Q4/2005  Release of Extensions to S2S Message Protocol:  Kiosk (TITO, WAT / Point Redemption, Coupons) – Q4/2004  Soft Count – Q4/2004  JP Fill Events – Q3/2005  Player Ratings – Q3/2005  Lottery – Q4/2005  PMS/POS – Q4/2005
