RELIGION: Man’s attempt to please God by adhering to rules and regulations.

RELIGION: Brings confusion, focuses on man’s works rather than God’s grace.

Our Hypocrisy tends to find us out.

HYPOCRISY: When we pretend to be something we are not.

Root causes for hypocrisy: It happens when we are intentionally fake.

Root causes for hypocrisy: It happens when we are intentionally fake. It happens when we are trying to please people.

Root causes for hypocrisy: It happens when we are intentionally fake. It happens when we are trying to please people. It happens when we are spiritually crippled.

Root causes for hypocrisy: It happens when we are intentionally fake. It happens when we are trying to please people. It happens when we are spiritually crippled. It happens when we are spiritually blind.

LOSE YOUR RELIGION THROUGH: Revelation, Confession, and Repentance.

Isaiah 29:13 (NIV) 13 The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

Matthew 7:1-5 (NIV) 1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Galatians 2:1-2 (NIV) 1 Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. 2 I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain.

4 KEYS to losing our hypocrisy: Hypocrisy is canceled when we are humble.

Galatians 2:3-6 (NIV) 3 Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek. 4 This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. 5 We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you. 6 As for those who were held in high esteem— whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism—they added nothing to my message.

4 KEYS to losing our hypocrisy: Hypocrisy is canceled when we are humble. Hypocrisy is rendered useless when we stop trying to impress people.

Galatians 2:7-10 (NIV) 7 On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised. 8 For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. 9 James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised. 10 All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along.

Galatians 2:11-13 (NIV) 11 When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.

Galatians 2:14 (NIV) 14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?

4 KEYS to losing our hypocrisy: Hypocrisy is canceled when we are humble. Hypocrisy is rendered useless when we stop trying to impress people. Hypocrisy is destroyed when truth is revealed.

4 KEYS to losing our hypocrisy: Hypocrisy is canceled when we are humble. Hypocrisy is rendered useless when we stop trying to impress people. Hypocrisy is destroyed when truth is revealed. You are healed of your hypocrisy through confession and repentance.

1 John 1:6-10 (NIV) 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Galatians 2:20-21 (NIV) 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
