Unwanted aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. This behavior is repeated or has the potential to be repeated over time.

Types of Bullying seen at Big Sky  Threats  Spreading rumors  Attacking physically or verbally  Excluding someone from a group on purpose

What steps are taken?  Victim is interviewed to find out what has taken place  Suspect(s) are interviewed and then it is determined to give a ticket or work it out  Parents are notified

Consequences? Montana is one of two states that does not have a specific bullying law.  Harassment  Disorderly conduct  Assault

Privacy in communication law? Communicates with aperson by electronic comunication  Person knowingly or purposely with the purpose to terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend

What about erasing messages?  They never disappear  A copy is always available

What can a bystander do?  Step in  Seek out an adult  Others?

On average how many complaints are handled each year?  Varies from year to year  Statistically females are the ones that are involved in bullying the majority of the time

What happens if a student is bullied off campus?  The school is responsible for you until you enter your home
