2. Bullying Bullying takes place when,
A student is the victim of any unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived power imbalance.
The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.
Both kids who are bullied and who bully others may have serious, lasting problems.

5. Types of Bullying Verbal Social Physical Emotional “Cyberbullying”
Name calling, rumors, threats…
Ruining somebody’s reputation, exclusion…
Hitting, fighting, property damage, stealing…
Social exclusion, intimidation…
bullying using technology (Facebook, Twitter, text messages, etc.)

6. Bullying Terms
Gossiping: Spreading rumors that may be true or false about someone or telling others information about someone that was to be kept between two people.
Hazing: Any action taken or situation created intentionally that causes embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule, risks emotional and/or physical pain regardless of the person’s willingness to participate.
Bystander: A bystander may or may not be a friend of the target, but he or she is aware that the bullying is happening.

7. Bullying Facts
Estimated 160,000 students miss school everyday because of bullying.
Bullying takes place most when there is no adult supervision.
Bullying peaks in middle school, but never disappears completely.
Boys tend to bully boys and girls. Girls tend to bully mostly other girls.
60% of those associated as a bully in grades 6-9 had 1 or more criminal convictions by age 24.
