Form your Triad: Leader: Read the situation on your paper. Recorder: Use the back of your paper to write the group’s ideas Spokesperson: In three minutes, share your situation and group’s ideas. Advocate for respect. Share ideas: Discuss whether or not your situation shows respect for the relationship. If you think it shows respect, explain why. If you think it lacks respect, rewrite the situation to show a respectful relationship. Grade 6 | Lesson 5

2 Bullying Definition Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Grade 6 | Lesson 5

3 Bullying Definition In order to be considered bullying, the behavior must be aggressive and include: An Imbalance of Power: Kids who bully use their power—such as physical strength, access to embarrassing information, or popularity—to control or harm others. Power imbalances can change over time and in different situations, even if they involve the same people. Repetition: Bullying behaviors happen more than once or have the potential to happen more than once. Grade 6 | Lesson 5

4 Bullying Definition Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose. Grade 6 | Lesson 5
