How to Pick the Right Job

Picking the right Job ► Think of:  Something you would enjoy doing.  It can get you a step forward towards a career.  Something you are good at.  Keeping this in mind.  How much do these careers pay.

Something you would enjoy doing ► What makes you happy?  When finding the right job, you need to look into your likes and dislikes. ► If you like to help others but don’t like to see a broken bones or blood…. Then you should not be a doctor in an emergency room. ► If you like helping kids and you have tons of patients…you should look into becoming a teacher.

It can get you a step forward to a career. ► When picking a job try to get in the field that you would be looking to have a career in : 1.If you want to be a Chef ► Working in a restaurant or a hotel would be beneficial for you. 2.If you want to be a Teacher ► It would be beneficial to work as a teachers aide/Campus Supervisor to learn the way a classroom is ran. 3.If you like to work in technology: ► You would find it important to work in a computer lab or an entry level position in a technology based company.

Jobs that you are good at or want to become good at ► When applying for a job you need to look at your abilities to perform the job.  If you don’t like to talk to people then a customer service job would not be ideal for you.  If you like computers and find it easy to navigate through these, then I would highly suggest you become a computer technician.

Keeping this in mind ► When you like what you do…. You are not really working because you enjoy it so much…..going to work is never a chore. ► Sometimes making money is important but you may find it more rewarding to make less money and have a blast at work every day.

How much do these careers pay? ► When looking for a career you must take into consideration a few things:  Where do you want to live?  Who many kids (if any) do you want to have?  What type of car do you want to drive? ► Making sure you are in the field that will allow you to live the life style you wish to have.

How much do these careers pay? ► Chief Nurse $181,000 a year ► Fire Fighters $50,000 a year and max after 10 years $95,000 ► Teacher $41,000 a year after max after 12 years $108,000 ► Personal Trainer $60,000 depending on the amount of clients or GYM you work for you can make $89,000 after your 5 th year.

Your assignment for this week ► Write 2 paragraphs telling me about the career you want to be in and why you picked that career. ► Go on Salary.com and look for the salary information on the job you have chosen. ► This will be graded as part of your project grade (25%)
