Difference in meaning of certain words Remember/forget I remember meeting you at John’s party last month (remember after we do it) Please remember to post this letter for me. (remember before we do it)

try Why don’t you try putting the envelope in water (we do it and see what happens) I try to get a taxi, but I couldn’t. (we make an effort to do it)

stop When the teacher came in, the students stopped talking. (we no longer do it) On the way, he stopped to buy a newspaper. (we stop what we are doing so that we can do something else)
